Why Mt. Snow ...
Mount Snow was founded by an eccentric visionary. His name was Walter Schoenknecht and he knew that even great skiing by itself did not make for a great ski vacation. So Walt built what some called a "quirky, off-beat resort" that featured geysers, dream pools, music, parties, barbecues and sometimes outrageous special events before other resorts were even serving food. It's been almost 50 years since Walt sold the first lift ticket at Mount Snow. Most of his competitors thought he was crazy. He was crazy. Like a fox.
Today, that same infectious, off-the-wall spirit lives on in the people who work here and the people who have adopted Mount Snow as their home away from home. It's a vision and style that drives us to this day. Our roots are in giving people a good time and delivering the unexpected. That was the Mount Snow of nearly 50 years ago. It's the Mount Snow of today.
